Product Description
The garlicky one.
Same foundation as our Idli Podi — roasted urad dal, bengal gram, roasted chana dal, sesame, red chillies — with one significant addition: garlic. Real garlic, hand-roasted with the rest of the ingredients, not garlic powder added later. The difference is immediate. The podi has a depth and warmth that the regular version doesn’t, and the aroma when you open the pouch tells you exactly what you’re getting.
The label says it clearly: have your dosa or idli with delicious lip-smacking idli podi. That is the honest description. The garlic is not subtle. It’s the point.
Sesame oil is the pairing — not ghee, not any other oil. The sesame and garlic together is the combination that makes South Indian breakfast what it is. Dip your idli or dosa in, eat it while it’s hot. Hand-roasted in 5–7 kg small batches in T.Nagar, Chennai, and shipped within 10 days of roasting.

How to Use
Method 1 — The classic (idli):
- Spoon Garlic Idli Podi onto a small plate or directly beside your idli.
- Pour a generous drizzle of sesame oil or any oil or ghee over the podi and let it pool slightly.
- Dip your idli in and eat while hot.
Sesame oil is not optional — it is what the garlic needs to bloom. Do not substitute with ghee.
Method 2 — With dosa:
- Spoon Garlic Idli Podi into a small clay bowl beside your dosa.
- Add a generous pour of sesame oil or any oil or ghee of your choice.
- Tear the dosa and dip directly — or spread the podi and oil across the dosa surface before eating.
Also works with:
Chapati · Upma · Curd Rice
FAQs
1. How is this different from your regular Idli Podi?
One ingredient: garlic. Hand-roasted with the dals and sesame rather than added later. The garlic changes the aroma, adds depth to the flavour, and gives the podi a warmth the regular version doesn’t have. If you love garlic in your food, this is the version to buy. If you prefer the cleaner, nuttier version, go with the regular Idli Podi.
2. Should I use sesame oil or ghee?
Sesame oil. Always. The garlic and sesame are built for each other — it’s the combination that defines South Indian podi eating. Ghee is a substitute if you don’t have sesame oil, but the result is noticeably different. Start with sesame oil the first time. You may use any other oil too if you do not have or use sesame oil
3. Is the garlic flavour strong?
Yes — and intentionally so. The label calls it lip-smacking. The garlic is real, roasted whole with the other ingredients, not added as garlic powder. If you want a milder garlic note, use less podi. If you want the full experience, don’t hold back.
4. What’s in it — and what’s NOT?
Urad Dal, Bengal Gram, Roasted Chana Dal, Garlic, Sesame Seed, Red Chillies, Asafoetida, Oil & Salt. No preservatives, no anti-caking agents, no MSG, no palm oil, no artificial colours, no flavour enhancers. Nothing we wouldn’t put in our own food.
5. How spicy is it?
Mild. The red chillies give it a gentle warmth but this is not a spicy podi. The garlic is the dominant note, not heat. Suitable for everyday eating including low spice tolerance.
6. What’s the shelf life?
6 months from manufacture date. The manufacture date is printed on the pouch.
7. How do I store it after opening?
Transfer to an airtight glass or steel container. Use only a dry spoon. Refrigerate for maximum freshness.
8. Is this vegetarian?
Yes. 100% vegetarian.
9. How long does delivery to Singapore take?
Every order is packed fresh in our kitchen in T. Nagar, Chennai and sent by international courier. It usually reaches you within 7–10 days, and we send you a tracking link as soon as it ships.
10. How much is delivery?

Garlic idli podi is an all time favourite in our household With right touch of garlic, the taste of the podi is elevated makes it a very good condiment.
We usually make podis at home as my family prefers home made but after getting podis from Friszon, we have completely stopped making them at home as they deliver a mouth watering , yummy podis, especially Idli podi and Garlic idli podi
Loved the garlic podi have over the years sent it to both my children it’s a staple Gift to the US Homely made with care and Jayshree always has a smile and it shows in her food
The roasted garlic aroma is the first thing I noticed. It gives regular idli podi a deeper flavour without too much chilli.
A great option for garlic lovers. Mixed it with sesame oil and had it with hot dosa – very satisfying.
The garlic flavour is bold but not harsh. I liked the mild heat and the roasted dal background.
It tastes different from the usual podi in a good way. Works especially well with soft idlis.
The sesame and garlic are nicely balanced. I also tried it with chapati and enjoyed the savoury flavour.
A simple breakfast upgrade. The aroma is strong when opening the pouch, and the taste carries through.
I prefer garlic podi to plain podi, and this one has a warm, rounded profile. Good with dosa.
The flavour is comforting and the spice level is gentle. It is easy to pair with different tiffin items.
A nice change from classic idli podi. I would enjoy a little more chilli, but the garlic note is excellent.
Good roasted flavour and easy to serve. A little sesame oil brings out the garlic beautifully.
